Tuku closes HIFA’s global state in
style
Oliver Mtukudzi got Up close and Personal with his
fans at the Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) which
ended in Harare on May 02, 2004. The festival began on April 27,
2004. The theme for this years festival was, “Heartbeat of
the city”. Dubbed “Oliver Mtukudzi and Quartet”,
Tuku performed alongside Kenny Neshamba on percussion, Mary Bell
and Namatai Mubariki on vocals, Tuku showcased his great vocal and
acoustic skills that will be long remembered by all fans who got
the opportunity to attend this exclusive performance.
“It was like he was performing in my living
room”, said one fan at the show. This fan was one of the very
few people that got the most sought after ticket at HIFA 2004. Tuku’s
show was sold out. Tuku took his fans on a journey about his music and
his personal life. This gave his fans a rare opportunity to understand
how he had come a long way to succeed in the music industry.
Oliver urged his fans to be strong and work hard as
life was now tough. He told further added that for one to be successful
they have to sweat hard, as he began to sing Mutserendende. This
is a sing that encourages one to work hard and not give up, because
every little step that one takes is an
invaluable achievement.
