Tuku performs with Freshlyground

Freshlyground, the South Africa band based in Cape Town ended HIFA on a high note with a surprise guest appearance by Oliver Mtukudzi. Zolani Mahola, lead vocalist of the youthful band sang Todii (what shall we do) alongside Oliver, one of the most respected and popular Zimbabwean musician in South Africa.

Todii is a song that asks the people what shall we do, about the AIDS scourge that has decimated a lot of people on the continent and the world over. Apart from the great performance with Tuku, Freshlyground performed songs from their debut album entitle Jika Jika. The highly acclaimed album was released last year. Freshlyground recently performed at the North Sea jazz Festival and at the opening of parliament in South Africa on the eve of 10 years in democracy this year. Visit the freshlyground website
