Awesome Africa Music Festival 2004
Oliver Mtukudzi, are some of the big names that will perform at this year's Awesome Africa Music
Festival which begins in Durban, South Africa on September 26 until September 28. This year's
festival will feature 250 artists from 18 countries around the world.
Zimbabwe's Oliver Mtukudzi is scheduled to perform at the Standard Bank Jazz Stage at this years
Awesome Africa Music Festival which begins in Durban, South Africa on September 26 until September
28. Other artists billed to perform at this year's festival include Joe Thomas, Lucky Dube, Ladysmith
Black Mambazo and Vusi Mahlasela.
There will be an All Star Tribute to the late bass guitarist Sipho Gumede. The All Star line up
includes Caiphus Semenya & Letta Mbuli, Ray Phiri, Ernie Smith, The Mahotella Queens, Moses
Khumalo, Khaya Mhlangu, Mabi Thobejane, Shaluza Max, Roger Lucey & Don Laka.
Sipho Gumde passed away on July 26 this year at the age of 52.
The festival will also encompass music education workshops that range from gospel music, rhythms of
africa, recording demos, cds and the mbira and Tukumusic.
