Call for submission to new Zimbabwe artists
Pamberi Trust - incorporating The Book Café and Mannenberg Jazz Club - are excited to announce the setup of a website for Zimbabwe’s performing, literary and visual artists. The website is being setup to offer artists of every discipline the opportunity to promote themselves and their work at no cost, make use of information technology enjoyed by artists everywhere, and to offer the world contact details and information through the world wide web.
Another, broader objective is draw the somewhat fragmented corners of the arts & cultural industry of Zimbabwe together for the benefit and survival of all stakeholders. Within the 3 main categories of performing, literary and visual arts, there will also be sections for up and coming, not-yet-established artists, and as far as possible, information on influential artists who are no longer with us. The website will also feature arts news and links with arts events lists, a discussion forum, and a Books section and Gallery.
As well as information on artists, it will also offer contact information and strengthen links with related industries, such as arts and cultural associations, galleries, recording studios, the publishing, advertising and tourism industries, arts education, and a myriad of service providers.
The Zim Arts website will complement and link with existing related websites including the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, www.writers.co.zw, www.itsbho.com, www.venekera.com, www.allzimbabwe.com and other local events lists. As the setup phase completes, the website will be looking for corporate support through advertising to ensure its continuity.
The Artists Information Outreach project by Pamberi Trust is supported by a small grant from The World Bank (Zimbabwe Office) and technical support by Venekera Works, a dynamic young website company who are passionate about supporting the arts. The project will evolve to include a newsletter for those without access to the web, and artists forums in 4 cities, which are all designed to feed each other and lead to strengthening the arts and cultural industry in Zimbabwe. All musicians, poets, writers, comedians, actors, singers, dancers, painters, photographers, graphic artists, associations, clubs, institutions are now welcome to submit their information, including contact details, profiles, and digital pictures to the project office to:
