Mtukudzi to release new album "Hezvo" in August
Oliver 'Tuku' Mtukudzi has told Tukumusic.com that his fans should expect a new album titled "Hezvo" in August. Tuku is currently in the studio with the Black Spirits recording the new album. The award winning musician added that "Hezvo" will feature 12 new songs focusing on everyday issues.
Asked if the album will feature any collaborations, Tuku said there would be no collaborations but people should look out for a new duets album called, "A'biangu – Duets of my time". Commenting of the title, Tuku said,"A'biangu", was a kore-kore word meaning friends.
The duets album is scheduled for release later in the year and will feature songs recorded by Tuku with various local, regional and international musicians. Currently, most of the songs that feature Tuku are not available on Tuku's albums and have not been released in Zimbabwe. Tuku added that the duets album is something he owes Tukumusic fans. Some of the musicians that Tuku has recorded with over the years include South Africans Ringo Madlingozi, Judith Sephuma, Afro-Tenor, Bongo Maffin and the Southern African band, Mahube.
"Tsivo-revisted", is another album scheduled for release this year. The album is a remix of songs on the Tsivo album released in 2003. The album featured popular tracks such as Wagona Fani, Hariputirwe and Totutuma.
