Tuku to officially launch new DVD in the UK
Award winning and internationally acclaimed Zimbabwe's music icon, Oliver Mtukudzi is set for a short tour of the United Kingdom over Easter 2006. 'Tuku', as he is affectionately known, will be supported throughout by his regular backing group, The Black Spirits, but the shows will also feature his son Samson, who turns 18 on 1st April as well as introducing his daughter Selmor's for the first time to his fan-base in the UK.
Oliver Mtukudzi is still glowing from scooping three awards out of four he had been nominated for, at the fifth edition of the National Arts Merit Awards (or NAMAs), held at the 7Arts Theatre in Harare on the 3rd March 2006. Tuku, won the People's Choice Award, the Silver Jubilee Award and also the award for Outstanding Album 2005 entitled 'Nhava'.
The Easter UK Tour, dubbed The Tuku Family Affair Tour coincides with the launch of a new DVD, entitled WONAI (meaning Please Watch!) by Sheer Sound RSA. The DVD will not be available in record stores in the UK for a month or two but a limited quantity will be on sale at the Easter concerts (along with other merchandise) but comprises a collection of 15 music video's with bonus features (extra videos, discography, interviews etc) available for the first time on this format.
Also Included in the archive predominantly spanning the '80's and 90's are a few tracks that are not available on CD, let alone DVD!
