Tuku compiles Abiyangu (Duets 0f My Time) album
In a career spanning over 30 years and nearly 60 albums Tuku has not only shared the stage with some of Africa’s greats he has gone further to record duets with them.

For posterity and of course, for the food of the soul, Tuku is compiling an album aptly called Abiyangu (Duets of My Time). Abiyangu means friends in Tuku’s korekore dialect.

The album is a selection of some of the duets Tuku has done at home and abroad and features the likes of duets with James Chimombe, Susan Mapfumo, Biggie Tembo, Ringo, Judith Sephuma, Cesaria Evora, Moreen Lilanda, Afro Tenor, Eric Wainana, Fungisayi Zvakavapano-Mashavave, Willom Tight, Leonard Zhakata…the list is long.

Tuku told tukumusic.com end of February Abiyangu is a compilation of historic duets that he wanted put in a volume for posterity.

“Abiyangu means a lot to me in terms of the duets I have done with fellow artists,” Tuku said. “And I wanted fans to remember those duets through this album. The album rekindles memories as some of the duets are classics that were hits in their time.”

It is still to be decided which album comes first Abiyangu (Duets of My Time) of Tsivo (Revisited). But these are some of the upcoming works that Tuku has been quietly working on. – tukumusic.com
