Tuku records Dairai album 56 out soon
Dairai album number 56 is coming your way soon from Tuku who at the end of February had finished mixing the 12-track CD and was moving on to master the numbers.
“In this context Dairai simply means believe…just believe,” Tuku told tukumusic.com. “And people can expect the album any time soon.”
But believe what?
Tuku said Dairai was fundamentally inspired after the latest development where he now fuses the traditional mbira and marimba instruments doing away with the keyboard and guitar.
“And I am saying to people believe me our own traditional instruments are just as good as the Western electrical instruments.” In Dairai the mbira and marimba now kind of assume the face of Tuku music forming a formidable instrumental combination, how the keyboard and guitar were previously arranged, to provide a standard foundation to the sound. Now the traditional instruments usher in a totally fresh feel giving a whole new meaning to Tuku music.
Fused with the two traditional instruments is Tuku’s own trademark acoustic guitar, the drum and bass.
“This is the first album I have recorded since I started fusing the mbira and marimba in my music. I am singing here advocating as usual self-discipline at whatever level of life…respect for mankind, respect for the next man. The album is a reflection of life.”
But also in Dairai Tuku points out: “All along my music was influenced by traditional instruments but in Dairai it is no longer just the influence, it is the actual use of those instruments. And I am simply saying to may fans have faith in the new fusion.” – tukumusic.com
